On of his key court dates is now set to be pushed back.According to the Lincoln Journal Star, Washington’s plea hearing has been moved back to July 25 due to a “pending discovery request.” The plea hearing will take place only days before the Huskers open their preseason camp.Washington is facing felony charges in California stemming from an explicit video that he allegedly sent to an ex-girlfriend. He was charged with the felonies back in February of this year.As a freshman, Washington rushed for 455 yards and three touchdowns with a 5.9 yard/carry average. He also contributed an extra 24 receptions for 221 yards and a touchdown. He was poised for an increased role in 2019, but his legal issues now put those plans in jeopardy, especially if the NCAA drops the hammer on him.To make matters worse, earlier this month it was revealed that he had been cited for possessing drug paraphernalia. It may be months, or even the entire season, before all of Washington’s legal problems are completely resolved. But we don’t yet know what head coach Scott Frost will do if all of his issues remain unresolved at the start of the season.last_img
