Women’s Golf Closes Out Play At Ball State Sunshine Invite

LUCIE, Fla.– The Drake University women’s golf team wrapped up action at the Ball State Sunshine Invitational on Saturday and finished in 10th-place.”It wasn’t the outcome we wanted for sure. Toledo took home the team title with a score of 938 and MVC foe Southern Illinois finished runner-up with a score of 950. After having a tough first day to open the season, junior Madison Glennie bounced back on Saturday and fired a team-best 79, finishing with a total score of 261 (90-92-79).”Having Madison (Glennie) bounce back with a 79 was encouraging. She needed that,” said Pruett.Sophomore Grace Dunn placed tied for 21st after shooting an 83 on the final day for a total score of 244 (84-77-83), while freshman Sigurlaug Jonsdottir also registered an 83 in the final round for a total score of 253 (86-84-83). Freshman Aimee Gerschke finished strong by recording her best round of the tournament with an 84 for a total score of 259 (89-86-84). Junior transfer Nicole Blanchard rounded out the team’s effort with a score of 262 (91-81-90).
