first_img Gaston Ramirez Southampton flop Gaston Ramirez wants a return to Bologna, according to the player’s agent.The Uruguayan left the Italian club for St Mary’s in 2012 after Saints splashed out a record £12m fee to sign him.However, the 24-year-old has failed to make a significant impact at the club and Saints are expected to sell him in January rather than let him go for nothing next summer, when his contract expires.Bologna have been heavily linked with a move and now Ramirez’s agent, Pablo Betancourt, has revealed that would be his client’s preferred destination.“Ramirez has suffered from numerous physical problems in England and has also had to give up the national team and Copa America,” Betancourt told Radio Nettuno.“He wants to return to Italy, he’s constantly thinking about it, and when he talks about Italy he speaks of Bologna.“At Christmas, Gaston could be released and [Bologna sporting director Pantaleo] Corvino likes the player.“In Italy, Bologna is his preferred destination. It isn’t a matter of money, but the fact of being able to become an important player in a place he loves.” 1last_img
